Event Design and Advertising SECU Family House at UNC Hospitals
The Brief: Create an stand-alone, annual fundraising event for SECU Family House. Utilize the volunteerism of UNC football coach Butch Davis and his wife Tammy.
The Process: Developed a complete brand package for the event including naming, identity design and a microsite. From there, designed and executed a full promotional campaign including print, radio and digital.
The Result: The tournament is two years old and has sold out both years, raising over $250,000 for Family House. Even in the midst of the recession, revenue grew 150% in the second year. The microsite developed for this event was the first web-based system the House offered for fundraising activities. The success of making resources available online led to a full redesign of the entire organization's database and donor management system.
The For-Profit Tie-In: This event was designed specifically to engage local corporations. As a result, 75% of the revenue comes from local business partners. This strategy allows Family House to use the tournament for large donor cultivation, with the event itself functioning as a highly effective prospecting tool.
